MAJOR NEW HEALTH UPDATE

Dec 2021 480 lbs

Wow, a lot has happened! Sorry it has been a couple of years since I posted here last. Things got crazy and I wound up putting about 120 pounds back on in 18 months. I have since taken taken 90 pounds back off. After my weight loss stalled out I started doing some more research. As a result of that research I have made a radical change.Since this could be a HUGE turning point for my healing journey, I’m going to document it all. Here is what I’m hoping to accomplish.

Some of you may know of my ongoing struggles with health. Here is a quick summary of what I’m dealing with right now. I’m 6’ 3” tall. I am morbidly obese. In 2015 I weighed 540 lbs. I was virtually wheelchair bound 90% of the time from about 2010. 2012 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Myasthenia Gravis. This disease causes severe muscle weakness. Left untreated is usually fatal. For many years I was on 19 prescription drugs. I was on such high doses of morphine I had no short term memory and was barely conscious much of the time. In Feb 2019 I started tapering off morphine, by October 2020 I was morphine free. During that time I began serious alternative healing research and made some changes. So began my journey. By spring 2020 I was down to 340 pounds. The chronic pain in my back that had necessitated morphine was greatly reduced. I had lost the weight using a low carbohydrate diet. Then everything changed and I went off my diet and stopped exercising (wasn’t allowed outside). Fast forward 2 years and I had ballooned back up to 480 lbs. in may 2022 I went back on strict low carbohydrates plus I was now gluten free.
June 2022 465 lbs

I’m also now dealing with high blood pressure and thyroid issues. I have missing and ruptured disks in my spine as well as an old crushed vertebrae injury. My autoimmune symptoms are well managed with supplements and prescription medication. I’m fairly ambulatory for short distances and getting better as I lose more weight.

I’ve been doing more healing research. It started with investigating going to full Keto diet. As I was doing this I stumbled on the Carnivore diet. It is radical but, as I researched it I found many Medical doctors that not only support it but are on it themselves. Everyone from General Practitioners to Neurosurgeons. They all say the same thing.

◦ Rapid weight loss
◦ Full remission or significant reduction of symptoms of almost all autoimmune disorders.
◦ Elimination of joint pain
◦ Significantly reduces or eliminates diabetic issues.
◦ Improves or reverses peripheral neuropathy.

These are bold claims; they claim that evolutionary biology demonstrates a proper human diet is high fat meat, salt, water. The modern carnivore can safely add butter, eggs and bacon according to proponents of this radical diet.
Aug 2022 422 lbs

Surprisingly there is research to backup their claims. There are also tens of thousands of people on this diet testifying of all these claimed benefits. I even found a local person that swears by this diet and is in my corner (Thank you). After much consideration I’ve come up with a plan.

The goals:
◦ Reduce weight down to 275 lbs or less
◦ Eliminate all medications
◦ Eliminate all daily supplements except electrolytes and minerals
◦ Significantly reduce or eliminate all chronic pain
◦ Cure all skin issues
◦ Eliminate depression and bipolar symptoms
◦ Find ways to keep me accountable
◦ Share the journey

On Jan 16 2023 I started full keto with fasting mimicry. This means I can only eat in a 6 hour window, then 18 hour fast. Strict ketogenic diet. 100 carbs a day max, shooting for under 50 carbs.

My original plan was to do strict Keto for 90 days, but I got impatient and was feeling so good I went full carnivore after 4 days of Keto. This was probably a mistake. I should have given more time for my body to adapt. Lesson Learned, but I'm not turning back now.

Yes, I’ll be getting regular blood work to ensure nothing bad is happening. I’m going to keep sharing the journey, good or bad.
