Yesterday was a huge milestone for me. In 2012 I was diagnosed with a devastating Neuromuscular disease called
Myasthenia Gravis. I also have numerous back injuries. Between these two issues I was
virtually wheel chair/walker bound outside of the apartment. Walking
more than a few steps was extremely tiring and painful. Due to the
alternative healing practices I have been doing since mid 2019 I have
been able to leave the wheel chair and walker behind, although I still
use a cane for anything beyond going out to the van.
But yesterday (June 4, 2020) was HUGE. My wife and I went to the local park and walked the 1.3 KM (0.8 Mile) loop
through the trees. Now the last ⅓ KM was kind of painful, but a year ago, my
muscles would have given out completely after 100 meters or so. Two years ago
10 metres would have been all I could manage.
This was a big punch
in the face to my Myasthenia Gravis. WooHoo. After well over a decade,
I have a shot at a new life, and I have been working hard to make that happen.
I almost ended my life on more than one occasion when, living as I was, became
more frightening than the prospect of dying. I am so glad I did not give up
and began a search for answers. I still have a long way to go, but I have
learned a valuable lesson about perseverance, hope and faith.
I
also wanted to let others in similar situations out there know, you are not
alone. I am ready and willing to help, you just have to ask. Asking for help
is a signal you are ready to change and make your life better. I have been
creating resources to share my whole story and what I have learned about
alternative healing. These resources are FREE for the asking. I firmly
believe it is my responsibility to share my story and stand ready to help
others find what I have been so freely given. Gratitude is more than a
feeling. Gratitude is more than just lip service. Others have tried to teach
me this in the past, but I just had no frame of reference for understanding.
Now I understand that true gratitude requires action. This is a recent
lesson I have learned. I am thankful for the things that have happened in my
life that have allowed me to learn this lesson.
I may regret some
of the things I have done, or haven’t done, but I regret nothing that has
happened to me. It has all helped to shape the person I have become. We are
all challenged in our own way. The measure of who we are, is how we respond to
them. If you ever need a friend, I will do my best to be one. If my story
helps even one person, then the sharing of it was to good purpose.
Stay
strong and know this, asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign
of strength and readiness to change your life. You pay it back by helping
others when you have the chance. There are no strangers, just friends you
haven’t met yet.
Wow, even though i was up till 3:00 AM video editing and went to bed exhausted and frustrated from dealing with social media politics, I woke up at 8:00
AM and had an incredible Prayer/Meditation/Visualization session and had
to get up at 9:00 AM. I was so full of energy and feel so positive & uplifted. I could literally feel parts of my body tingling with healing and energy. Another side effect was my pain levels were very low after my 1 hour routine this morning.
It could be the new diet
& vitamins with supplements.
It could be this mornings 1 hour
routine.
It could be both.
Does it matter which? Nope, It is part of my
philosophy of research, experimentation and using what gets results. I
feel fantastic this morning. The only fly in the ointment was I got ready to
go out to get, and send a parcel, only to find out I had to wait until
after 1:00 PM, had to put on the breaks, oh well. Now I'm catching up on
a few other things. Still chomping at the bit to get rolling though. We need to remember to keep to our new routines we have established to regain our health, especially when we don't feel like it. It is easy to do when we feel good, but difficult to do when we feel like crap. It is what separates the successful people from the ones that fail. Don't let what others think or say stop you from doing the things that get results. Don't allow someone else's disbelief get in the way of your healing journey.I made that mistake once, I allowed my wife's scorn at a new technique stop me from doing it and I suffered years more pain and misery as a result. This is not her fault, it is mine. I knew it worked, but I let her attitude affect my resolve.
The type of meditation/visualization I use is called the heart/brain synchronization method. You need to understand that science rediscovered something ancient cultures have known for thousands of years. The heart actually has a brain. YES! This is not a typo. The human heart has 40,000 neural connections in the upper right quadrant that are virtually identical to neural cells found in the brain. The main difference is this Heart-Brain only processes emotion. The emotion that makes the biggest positive impact on the Heart-Brain is GRATITUDE and LOVE. Now, when you combine recalling these emotions with visualization you can get amazing results. The body knows how to heal, God gave all of us the ability to manipulate energy at the quantum level and the secret to accessing and using it is synchronization between the Heart-Brain and our primary brain and activating it with the emotions of gratitude and love.
Instruction for this method:
Lay down on your back or sit comfortably in a comfortable chair.
Put on some calm meditation type music if you choose. If you have access to it, listen to music that uses the specific frequency of 417 Hz OR 40 Hz, these are known healing frequencies and it will enhance the healing effect. Other effective frequencies are 285 Hz, 528 Hz, 432 Hz and 174 Hz.
Place your left hand over your heart. This is important later.
Begin slow deep breathing.
A slow count of 6 for the inhale
Hold for a count of 4
A slow count of 6 for the exhale
Repeat for the whole exercise
While doing this, visualize a ball of light hovering near your head, notice the colour, notice the direction of spin.
As you breath, focus on the light and realize, it is there to draw the tension and stress from you wherever the light washes over your body.
Move that light to your forehead, and move it slowly down your body allowing it to wash away and absorb any tension in your muscles leaving you relaxed like a handful of loose rubber bands.
Walk this light all the way from your head to your toes over however long it takes for each area to relax. As you practice this technique, it will happen faster.
Now, move that ball into your left hand.
Notice, that it makes your hand warm and tingly.
Move the ball of light from your palm, down into your heart, the warmth and tingling going with it.
Realize that this light now acts as a lens, letting you sense/see your heart.
Now you can sense/see the beating.
Now you can sense/see the neurons firing in the Heart-Brain.
Now begin to concentrate on imagining every breath you take is going through your heart, cleansing all negative emotions.
Now begin to recall events in your life that evoke feelings of gratitude, thankfulness, love & compassion.
Now imagine a conduit running from your heart to your mind (brain).
Now imagine the emotions you have evoked running from your heart, along the conduit, to your brain.
While this flow is happening (this is crucial), visualize the part of your body you want to heal, as already being healed. See every detail of it in perfect health. Not as you want it to be, but as it already is - PERFECT in every way. When you can see this, feel the emotions flood from your brain to the part of your body you need to heal.
Then, stop the flow, break the conduit, but leave the ball of light in your heart.
Now, if you're so inclined, begin to pray. Making sure to express your gratitude for all the good things in your life and for giving you the ability to heal yourself and leading you to the knowledge to do so.
If your not inclined to pray, that is fine, you can skip that part.
Now, begin to slowly, gently and easily return to full awareness. Withdraw the light from your heart, let it expand and wash over your whole body returning you to full awareness and filling your with boundless energy
This is my routine. it is very powerful, if done correctly it can effect incredible healing in your body, mind and soul.
Jesus Christ knew this and taught us this. It is what compassion, forgiveness and gratitude that he taught us, is all about. It is how we access this quantum power of healing that we all have. I have seen a video on YouTube that shows on ultrasound of a woman's 3 inch cancer tumor in her bladder being healed in under 3 minutes. Seeing this video changed my life. Here is a link to that video so you can see it for yourself.

So I have been getting allot of questions as to how I have strengthened my immune system. It is actually less about strengthening it, as it is about resetting it to normal operations. As someone with an autoimmune disorder, my immune system was attacking parts of my body. To prevent that from happening my doctor put me on an immunosuppressant. So to strengthen my immune system, I first have to normalize it. So this is how I am doing that.
Rebuilding my Immune System to Reverse Autoimmune Disease
I was diagnosed at 12 with Myasthenia Gravis, my Mom researched and put me on Mega vitamin therapy which put me into remission for almost 30 years. Unfortunately by the time I was re-diagnosed in 2012 her dementia was so bad I could not ask her about it. In trying to research it I found out a few things. 1st many doctors will not agree with what I am about to say, but the results for me, have been life changing.
Suppressing our immune system, I believe should only be a short term solution, to get our symptoms under control. I believe the best long term solution is to normalize our immune system, then once normalized carefully ease off the immunosuppressants. Before I continue, this is specific for Myasthenia Gravis, getting a Thymectomy is a must if your scans have shown your Thymus is active, or abnormal in any way.
Restoring your immune system to normal function requires two major considerations. The first and most often overlooked aspect of our immune systems is gut health. The gastrointestinal tract is responsible for 70% of your healthy immune system cells. Without a healthy gut, the rest of the nutrients we consume won't get absorbed into our cells. So the first step is to normalize our gut. To do this we NEED to find a good probiotic and prebiotic. What I mean by this, is that you need to find a product that can guarantee at least 2 billion live bacteria make it past the stomach and into the small intestine. This applies to pro and prebiotics. There are very few products out there that can do this. If you want to know what I use, contact me throughFaceBook or go to the contact us page.
OK, the key to normalizing the immune system for me, has been Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Medicinal Mushroom extract, meditation, sound therapy (Music Medicine), energetics and lots of veggies. Vitamin C at the start should be worked up slowly to gauge your body's reaction. I would start with a powder form based on ascorbic acid, mixed in water. 1000 MG once a day for a week. Then increase another 1000 mg a day for week 2. Once in the morning and once at night at least an hour before bed. Week 3 take 1000 mg morning, noon and night. Increase like this every week until your body says you are getting enough. Your body will tell you you have enough when you start to get loose stool. If you are taking Mestinon you are probably already fighting loose stools, so when it starts to get worse than usual that is when you have enough. Finish the week out to see if your body adjusts. If it does, keep it at this level until your stools get too loose again. Then back off 1000 mg a day. Even if you don't experience loose stools, I would not exceed 4000 mg per day. You won't hurt your body going higher if your bowels can handle it, but past 4000 mg the benefits begin to diminish. Everybody's system is different, this is why the process should be done this way to maximize the speed at which you reset your immune system. When you know your immune system has normalized you can probably go back down to 1000 mg a day.
With each 1000 mg dose of Vitamin C, take 50 mg Zinc and 150 mg Vitamin D1, 150 mg Vitamin D3. The zinc and Vitamin D is absolutely essential because the body requires that, for the vitamin C to properly absorb into your cells and correct your immune function. The levels of Vitamins E & A in a good multivitamin should be enough. Vitamin E helps tissues heal faster and more completely, Vitamin A expands that regeneration to the nerves. After week 2, you can add the medicinal mushroom extract. ⁱ/₈ teaspoon to ¼ teaspoon 3 times a week. If you can get an extract blend, use that, otherwise use either Red Reishi or Agarikon. You can take it directly by mouth or mix in a drink or food. Be warned, the flavour is VERY strong, it can easily overpower a mild dish or drink. I personally found it is easiest to just just pop the dose in my mouth, dissolve it in my mouth, then wash it down with water. If you like like truffle, you will be fine with the taste. Here is a list of the best known medicinal mushrooms; 🍄
♠ = Scientifically Proven in double blind studies to strengthen and normalize the immune system and specifically increase resistance to viruses.
Energetics such as Quantum Touch or Rieki will also help restore nerve function. I had Peripheral Neuropathyso bad the soles of my feet were completely dead and I could barely move my toes and everything else on my feet, toes included burned like fire. Now, I still get burning sometimes and I still have allot of numbness but about 4 months ago I felt the cats tail under the soles of my feet, then 3 months ago I could start moving my toes well enough to balance better and I can flex my toes again, yes they are still pretty stiff but slowly improving. Conventional wisdom says this can't happen.
Western medicine has done many wonderful things, but they don't have all the answers. Don't be afraid to research. To get you started, I am sharing my unlisted Healing research playlist from my YouTube Channel. You will find some really interesting stuff there.
I had a rough night for awhile, after about 2 hours I got woken up with muscle twitching and could not get back to sleep. The muscle twitching happens sometimes due to Myasthenia Gravis. It took me years to find a fast acting solution for the rare occasions it still occurs. Early this morning I tried something I have used for other purposes that worked in about 30 minutes. 15 minutes might have very well been enough but I wanted to be sure it lasted.
It starts with headphones or earbuds. Then I load up my favorite HARI OM Chant video that includes music. Instead of chanting however I hum to the chant. I discovered a few months ago when having issues with pronunciation that humming is actually more effective than chanting and can reduce the the time required for the desired effect by as much as 75%. You need to hum it loudly enough to feel the vibration in your nasal passages. You have to play the music/chant loud enough to ensure your staying in tune. There are several articles and videos on the internet and YouTube that explain how sound can healmany different issues including Pain,Depression, Alzheimer's and Dementia.
Here is the video I generally use for this purpose.
Here is a YouTube video that talks about the science of healing with sound. Some Great information here. Called: Music Medicine
Here is another YouTube video that talks about sound therapy for Pain, Depression & Obesity.
Please check out this information. This has been a HUGE part of my healing journey.
Yesterday I started a new lifestyle plan. Special vitamins and supplements carefully selected to boost and normalize my immune system, boost heart health, build proper gut flora, reduce the body's ability to absorb sugar and force the body to burn fat.
What prompted this?
Last week I got word from my family doctor, that the specialist I was referred to for back surgery has denied me help. Why? I was told there were 3 reasons. My weight, my Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and that it would leave me with a stiff back. My opinion? this is crap.
The MG does not prevent surgery, it just needs to be managed. The doctors for my last major surgery handled it by sending me for a standard series of PLEX (Plasmapheresis or Plasma Exchange) treatments - this deals with the MG risk.
As far as the stiff back from spinal fusion, who cares - I get very little movement now because of the pain of bone rubbing on bone plus all the nerve pain from my Sciatica. A little stiffness is a good trade off.
Telling me my weight is still an issue really makes me angry. The last specialist I saw said he would do the surgery if I got below 400 lbs (182 KG). After a 3 year battle I took off 190 lbs (86.4 KG) and got down to 350 lbs (159 KG). I have kept it within 10 lbs (4.54 KG) of that mark for close to a year now. Why do they keep changing the rules. Grrrr.
The 1st objection I think I can address with the specialist (provided I can actually sit down with him) with a little education. Most doctors know very little about Myasthenia Gravis. The 2nd objection is just silly in my view, but again I have to speak with the specialist to address this. The 3rd objection is something I can't do much about other than lose more weight. I am pretty sure he will use that as a basis for refusing to meet with me. So, my only hope here is to lose more weight and then demand he meet with me.
Sometimes we have to fight for our health, especially when it comes to dealing with doctors, specialists even more so. In Canada we require a referral to get to see a specialist, which is fine in most cases, but in cases like this where they won't see you and just send the reasons why through your family doctor, you don't even get the chance to deal with the objections and make a plan to solve the problem. This Covid-19 issue compounds that problem.
So for now, I am embarking on this plan. This new lifestyle plan is called the "R3 Wellness Plan". I started it yesterday. Let's see what happens. I'll keep you posted. IF this ever interests you or you have questions about it contact me through my Facebook Page and we can talk about it.
You may have noticed I have not posted in a little while. Due to my compromised immune system I have been self isolating for the last couple of weeks. I am actually focusing on building a social media presence in other areas so, I am educating myself in the finer points of YouTube, FaceBook, Modern Web Design, Business, related software, etc. At some point I plan on opening an Integrated Healing Practice so I need to build an online presence in many different areas, including a way for clients to book appointments. I am also working on multiple areas of building income streams.
If the current Covid-19 crisis has taught me anything, it is to have many different ways available to generate income. My goal is to get off of disability (AISH - Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped). I will be kicked off of AISH when I turn 65 so I need to find independence by that point. I have mostly worked for myself, so for me, CPP (Canadian Pension Plan) will be virtually non existent. Also, at the rate government is cutting back financial aid in all areas, I need to be independent.
That said, I will always provide a ton of FREE information about Integrated Healing and Alternative Healing. It is my mission in life now to help others find healing in all aspects of their life. Please be patient with me as I rebuild my life. When this current crises eases up I will begin posting again and adding specific information in multiple categories, each having their own dedicated page (location TBD). For example;
Herbal Remedies - Check my FaceBook IHA page for current postings on this subject
Supplements
Nutrition
Sound Therapy
I will be adding new stuff to my FaceBook IHA Page and my YouTube page - links below. You can also check me out on Twitter, although I have not been posting there recently either. As I continue to build my online portfolio you will start to see new stuff there as well. See you soon.
I got caught up working on everything but what I should be doing to maintain my health. After a couple weeks of pain levels increasing I suddenly realized I had been neglecting some of the things I did to deal with pain while getting off of Morphine, Pregabalin and Cannabis. I had to get back to the basics. I also refined a couple of techniques. Here is the scooby;
So, a few weeks ago I stopped doing my chanting exercises, then I started skipping my nightly routine of listing to special music laced with healing frequencies and replaced them with nature music.
Nature music is relaxing but does not have the specific frequencies science has confirmed stimulates the bodies natural healing response. Different frequencies stimulate different healing responses. Some stimulates nerve regeneration, some boost the immune response and others can help to regenerate tissues or clear anxiety and depression. Here is a link to my Favorite Healing Music YouTube playlist.
Chanting is another surprisingly effective way to healing and pain control. When I first started I felt silly chanting, it was also difficult to manage some of the pronunciation. What I discovered completely by accident is that you don't have to do the actual chant, you can simply hum to the main frequency. Not only does this work, it actually works better than singing the words. It is not the words, it is the specific frequencies reverberating through your head, chest and torso that creates the healing effect. I think humming works better because it creates a more continuous sound than singing the words can accomplish. At first I broke the humming at each word, then I went a step further and did one steady hum for the whole line only altering the frequency to match the music. This means I get better than twice the effectiveness, or I can do half the time investment and still get slightly better results than doing it the traditional way. Here is the link to my YouTube Chanting & Mantras Playlist.
Once I started including these in my daily routine again I was able to start bringing my pain back under control. I also started getting a little less grumpy as well. I will soon be posting info on the techniques I have been using to get off the meds and begin the healing process. I will also be discussing some of the research methods I have been using for those who are interested.
I am also building a website and a Facebook site for those who are local to me that might want to book some of my services as they become available. Check back for those links when I reach a critical mass of health information. I decided this was a better way to handle all the content I plan on creating. I also don't want too much duplication across sites. Don't worry all the info will be available for free. The only thing I plan to charge for are actual treatments I will offer to people in my area. Things like Hypnotherapy, Shiatsu, Quantum Touch, Micro TENS, Sound Bed Therapy, Tuning Fork Meridian Activation and Consulting. Everything else I will freely share.
Not much to report this week. I did get my new teeth yesterday but It has been so many years since having teeth I'm having allot of issues with rubbing and pain. This is going to take some time to get used to. I am currently dealing with my moms death and organizing a memorial so until that's done with I wont be doing much work on this BLOG.
Wasn't planning on a new post this soon. Was planning on solving some technical issues on this BLOG. Just too pooped to do it. This was actually a good test today for dealing with pain while out in public. So here is what I was up to.
Got my new glasses today. These progressives are hard to get used to. By the time I got fitted for them, then went to my Denturist I was in serious pain. Thank goodness for the somatic linking spin meditation✦ and a quantum touch technique I learned, works but kept having to repeat it every time the Denturist left the room to adjust the wax templates. There is a way to deal with pain that keeps coming back due to unhealed injury but it is too involved for the place and the time I had. I came close to pulling out my prescription card for cannabis on the way home to pick up a gram but, elected not to. Once I got home I could do a little more serious meditation and pressure points to deal with pain.
I am so exhausted. Dealing with the pain is bad enough, add to that the Myasthenia Gravis and now I am soooo tired. At least I got a decent amount of exercise today and finally have my new glasses, so hopefully the headaches will settle down. I should be starting to create some static pages discussing the different methodologies I'm employing to deal with my health issues day to day.
Regards, Fuzzee Dee
✦ This link connects to YouTube video showing the technique. Please watch at least to where the first 3 people are helped with pain before trying it yourself. Better to watch whole thing. Presenter is David Snyder who is my goto resource for pain management, learning social cues, how to tell when someone is lying, NLP and martial arts. This guy is amazing.
It has been a pretty eventful couple of weeks. I went to the optometrist and ordered new glasses. Should have done this 5 years ago.
Getting healthier by the day. Figured it was time I tried dentures again so I went in for my first fitting at the denturist. Not much fun picking the silicon remnants out of my facial hair. Since going so many years (about 8 yrs) my tongue has grown to fill the extra space after having all my remaining teeth removed. Not easy holding my tongue out of the way for 60 seconds. Should have my new teeth in a couple weeks or so. Still waiting on new glasses.
I've made lots of changes to this BLOG. You should now be able to see a Menu Bar at the top. I've added what I think are the best links related to my story and the subject of "Integrated Healing". Sorry this post is so short but adding menu bar and related link pages is taking up much of my time. Please bear with me, I'm learning as I go.
I started on this path because I wanted to feel better. I had gotten to a very bad place. Before I became symptomatic for Myasthenia Gravis I had many other health issues. As my career in computers progressed, all the sitting aggravated by back issues which started a vicious cycle of gaining weight, making my back worse, making me move around less, which helped pack on more weight. You can see where this is going. Before I knew it I was 538 lbs (244 KG). At 6' 3" (192 cm) this gave me a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 67.5. Then the Myasthenia Gravis symptoms started surfacing and my life started a downward spiral with no end in sight.
Just some of my Scripts
At it's worst I was on huge doses of Hydromorphone Contin (Slow Release) and Dilaudid (Fast acting Hydromorphone) for my back, Lyrica for my Peripheral Neuropathy, Antidepressants, Immunosuppressants, Cannabis for pain as well as many other medications. I spent my days in a stupor, unable to function. I laid in bed or sat on the couch. I watched TV, read, slept, pooped and ate. I did not leave the apartment very much. At one point I went for over a year without leaving. I did not care about anything, I did not even shower for months at a time. Granted showering was physically very demanding, I had a shower chair and such but it made for a good excuse to just give up on life. I am still amazed my wife stayed with me. She is a very special person.
Western Medicine Had Failed Me
I finally realized if I was ever going to build a new life, I had to figure it out for myself. Western medicine was telling me there wasn't much they could do. First I had to figure out what steps to start with. The initial thing I needed to address was the pain meds. The 2nd was weight and 3rd my back and my neck.
In August of 2018 I started tapering down the amount of morphine I was using. I also got things rolling to renew my Cannabis prescription to help deal with pain and withdrawal as I weaned off of morphine. By September 12, 2019 I was off morphine forever! December 7, 2019 was my last day for cannabis of any kind. If I get back surgery I may have to use cannabis again for a short time but I hope not. As of Christmas Day 2019, I also came off of Lyrica. By this time I had also eliminated most other medications. At my worst I was on almost 20 prescription medications. Now I am on 2. More about that in subsequent posts.
Even though I had lost about 100 lbs since being diagnosed in 2012, I had been stuck at around 440 lbs for several years. Then I went back up a few lbs and hovered between 450 lbs & 460 lbs. In 2017 I dropped a little and hovered around 430 lbs until I began this quest to build a new life. In Jan 2019 I found a product that promised to boost my resting metabolism and help me lose weight. It worked! By the middle of Oct 2019 I finally broke through the 350 lb barrier. To be honest, I don't know if it was the pills, the dietary adjustments, the desire to rebuild my life or a combination of all of them. I suspect it was all of them together, more on that later. Having gotten below 400 lbs, surgery for my back could once again be an option. Next thing was to get some new teeth, new glasses and a new career. We'll get into that more in the future.
Research, Research, Research
I have been doing some research since I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, but mostly looked into western medicine. In spring 2019 this changed. As my memory and mental acuity began to recover (thanks to reducing Morphine) I recalled some events from my childhood when I was 12 years old. My Tae Kwan Do instructor noticed I was having issues and suggested to my Mom she take me to get tested for Myasthenia Gravis. He had a nephew with it (at least I think it was his nephew) and recognized the signs. My family doctor confirmed I had it and booked me to see a specialist in neurology. As that appointment was over 6 months away my Mom took it upon herself to research how she could help me in the meantime. She made some dietary changes and put me on 'Mega-dose' vitamin therapy. By the time we went to the specialist all signs of the Myasthenia Gravis were gone. Because doctors did not believe a lay person could have discovered a treatment, especially not one based on diet and vitamins, they dismissed the other doctors findings and looked no further. What I now know is that the vitamin therapy put me into full remission. Unfortunately this series of events from my childhood served to complicate my diagnosis.
When I remembered these events, I began researching in earnest to find the therapy she had put me on. While looking for that, I stumbled on to some other very important things. I was already using meditation and self hypnosis for pain, But while looking for more pain management options I stumbled across 'Quantum Touch', but while investigating more into Quantum Touch, I found out about the field of 'Energetics', which include Quantum Touch, Reiki, Chanting, Shiatsu (Chinese pressure point therapy), Mandala, Chakra's, Resonance, Sound therapy and others. I also rediscovered NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). This leads into the topic of "Integrated Healing", which in a nutshell is looking at the whole being; Body, mind and soul and combining treatments and approaches that heals everything together. It treats the whole being simultaneously for all issues using many different techniques from many disciplines. While learning about these techniques and practicing them, I began to find healing. In future posts I will begin to discuss some of the things that have been healing as a result of these efforts. Things western medicine and science say are impossible. I also encourage you to check out my YouTube Playlists to view many of the research videos I have found.
In 2012, after several years of doctors trying to diagnose the cause of my many health issues, they finally figured out my primary medical issue is an autoimmune disease called "Myasthenia Gravis". In the course of finding this out they discovered several other issues. Here is a short list.
Myasthenia Gravis
Spinal Stenosis
GERD (Gastro Esophageal Re-flux Disease)
Ruptured Disks
Morbid Obesity (over 500 pounds at 6'3" BMI: 67.5)
Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Hypothyroidism
Peripheral Neuropathy (caused by Myasthenia Gravis)
This is an autoimmune disease that affects the communication between my brain and my muscles. Symptoms can include getting tired very easily, slurred speech, vision changes, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, burning in feet or hands. Sudden muscle fatigue and/or weakness.
This causes abnormal bone growth in the spine. This can result in bone spurs, that in severe cases can cause pressure on the spinal cord. It can also force misalignment of the vertebrae that no amount of chiropractic care can resolve. As a matter of fact most chiropractors will want to stop treating you.
In time, over production of stomach acid will damage the sphincter at the top of the stomach, allowing acid to rise up your esophagus. In severe cases this can cause you to lose all your teeth due to acid (both liquid and gas), eroding the enamel of the teeth allowing them to decay rapidly.
The soft disks between each vertebrae in the spine can deteriorate over time or as the result of a compression injury. This can cause the disk to rupture, spilling out the gel that fills the disk. Without this protection, the spine can no longer properly absorb shock load. As the bones grind together permanent damage can occur. Many times, the only solution is surgery to either replace the bad disk or to fuse the affected vertebrae together.
This is when you carry so much fat that it is very unhealthy, it can substantially shorten your life and cause all kinds of other health issues. A BMI of 40 or more is the threshold for Morbid Obesity.
This is when a pad of tissue blocks the airway when sleeping or completely relaxed. This can stop you from breathing and may cause you to wake up. You may not even realize you have woken up. In severe cases it can disturb your sleep hundreds of times a night. It can cause you to jolt fully awake, choking and gasping for breath. Most times a CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) machine can treat this effectively. When severe enough, surgery to remove excess tissue or even bone may be needed. A sleep study is required to properly diagnose and treat this issue.
This is when your thyroid no longer produces enough of the correct hormones your body needs to utilize food correctly and metabolize nutrition. This can affect many aspects of your health. The first most common symptom is tiredness. The symptoms can be treat with simple medication. If the underlying cause can't be determined and treated, medication can often be ineffective.
This is a result of damage to the nerves in the hands or feet. It can cause severe burning sensations while at the same time blocking normal feeling. In severe cases complete numbness results except for the burning sensation. The damage is permanent and there are few effective treatments for the pain (at least according to western medicine).

By the time I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in 2012 I was a complete mess. I weighed 538 lbs (244.5 Kg) at my heaviest. I could no longer swallow solid foods. My speech was so slurred only my wife could understand what I said. Liquid multivitamin and 'Boost' was all I could swallow to survive on. I guess one good side effect was I started dropping weight. I could no longer walk more than a few feet, breathing was very difficult. I had such severe pain in my back I was on high doses of morphine and had lost much of my mental acuity. I had significantly reduced short term memory. I could watch a movie and 2 days later watch it again with out the tiniest sense of familiarity.
When the specialist diagnosed me, he sent me straight to the ER. A CT scan showed an existing and fractured Thymus. Normally we all lose our Thymus after puberty when our immune system is fully established. The Thymus becomes atrophied and is absorbed back into our bodies. My acetylcholine levels were all out of whack, my immune system was attacking my own body. I will discuss treatments I've received in subsequent postings.
My GERD resulted in severe heartburn and caused my teeth to begin melting away from the acid. Eventually I had to have the remnants of my teeth surgically removed. Walking was made even more difficult by the numbness in my feet from the neuropathy. From the onset of early symptoms it took over 3 years for complete diagnosis. This was caused by many factors. Several doctors told me to just lose weight and all would be well. It wasn't until I confronted my GP and asked "Does obesity explain slurred speech and numb feet?", that he started to take me more seriously. My GP then finally ordered an MRI to test for MS. When I could not fit in a standard MRI machine Alberta Health spent almost 2 years arguing over what department was going to pay for sending me to a large format MRI. It wasn't until completing an MRI with a negative result for MS and a colleague of my wife from her work (Speech Pathology) suggesting I needed a specialist, that they sent me to a neurologist in Edmonton.
That neurologist sent me to a specialist in autoimmune disease who then diagnosed me with Myasthenia Gravis. Before this diagnoses they were telling me it was MS, after the MRI was negative for MS, they were thinking ALS. To be fair, I had told the doctors that I had been diagnosed by my pediatrician at 13 with Myasthenia Gravis and referred me to a specialist. In the 6 months before that appointment my mom researched and put me on mega-dose vitamin therapy. By the time I went to the specialist all signs of Myasthenia Gravis had disappeared. Because western medicine does not believe Myasthenia Gravis can be cured by vitamins and diet they dismissed the childhood diagnosis and did not look for Myasthenia Gravis.
This becomes important later as a trigger to start looking for non traditional treatments for Myasthenia Gravis. This is how I stumbled upon the Integrated Healing stuff this blog will be focused on. In subsequent posts I will discuss my treatment so far and many of the factors driving me to find a cure for all my health issues.
